"All we got on him is he won't tell us nothing."-Raymond Chandler, The Long Goodbye

Simon Winchester made earthquakes and maps interesting to millions of people, including some who probably never read non-fiction before. Ken Adler accomplishes the same with his new book, The Lie Detectors. Society has always been facinated by the complex ways people hide and tell the truth. In 1920 a cop was about to change the face of governmet, marriages, and the entire criminal justice system with a device called the polygraph. Even though it has been proven inaccurate at times, and can be fooled, it continues to fascinate us as human beings.
